Kids are encouraged to play sports to be active, meet friends, and learn skills like teamwork and coordination. These benefits to playing a sport don't change when you're an adult!
Do you play sports? Which ones? Are you part of an organized league, or do you play casually with friends? What lessons have you learned from playing sports?
Tell us whether you play sports and we'll enter you in a drawing to win a $20 Amazon Gift Card!
We're doing three giveaways — here's how you can win!
If you're inspired to write a whole blog post OR you have a photo on Flickr to share, please link to it in the comments or tweet it.

I do not play sports of any kind. I don't even jump to conclusions any more. I walk (sometimes) and I square dance. That's it.
I don't play sports
I used to play team sports in high school (volleyball), but now I tend to just run by myself. It's easier to schedule time that way.
I don't play sports. I've never been into sports.
I do not play Sports. I used to, but not at this time.
Yes, I play sports. I like to play tennis although I am not very good and casually shoot hoops. I also like swimming.

No, I've never been into playing sports. Reading has always been my thing.
It's not really a sport, but I do Crossfit as my workout. It's more group fitness, but I definitely feels the same camaraderie as I did when I played sports in high school.
I play tennis and basketball, and I play these sports casually with my friends. Playing sports is an awesome way for me to stay in shape, in contact with my friends, and most importantly promoting my children to be active like me.
Hello! I do play sports. I play basketball, football and soccer still today. Back in High School and College I played the previous mentioned sports plus hockey, baseball and tennis. Today I play pick up games of basketball pretty regularly and random beach football game with friends from time to time. I play for an adult soccer league which has games on every Monday night for 10 weeks at a time. Usually there is a 3 week break between 'seasons' and then we go at it again.
I have learned a great deal from sports especially for playing organized sports since I was 5. I learned responsibility from having to be certain places at certain times for games and practices. Also, responsibility for defensive assignments and learning what can happen if I don't do my job,i.e. let my team down. Learning teamwork and how to work together together toward a common goal. I learned how to play fair, sportsmanship and respect for authority, i.e. the ref and coach. Also, I learned a great deal about statistics especially trying to figure out your batting average! I would say I learned a lot form sports thank you!
I don't play sports, but I keep active. My favorite is walking.
I don't currently play any sports, but I did join a "runner's league" that also participates in races, if you'd consider that a 'sport'.
I play tennis from time to time, just for fun and a way to change up the exercise routine. I've learned it's important to enjoy the things you do, even (or especially) when it comes to exercise!
No, I don't currently play sports. I am, in fact, quite lazy as an adult. I did play soccer and softball in my youth. Now, when I'm not working and have the time to exercise, I walk my dogs which can be a lot of exercise in itself.
I do not play sports. I love to hike and yoga, but not anything organized.
I don't play sports but I do like to go for walks and sometimes ride bikes.

I don't play any sports, I never did. I am just starting to enjoy watching sports, but that is more for the social aspect than the actual sport.
I don't play sports.
I played soccer, basketball, football, tennis, and baseball when I was younger. I now play casually with friends and pickup games. The biggest lesson I learned throughout the years is to take care of your body with proper stretching and core strengthening. It's not the most exciting thing to do but it's worth maintainng good flexibility and core strenth as it will help promote body resiliency during play and longevity as we age.
I don't really play any sports. I used to as a child but just got busy plus I have no one to play with!
I don't play sports. I do exercise.
A little volleyball, plus I'm soon going to be biking to work :)
I casually play disc golf, primarily with my boyfriend and sometimes with other friends. Sports have been a part of my life for many years, and in that time I've learned to have a short term memory. Evaluate your mistakes enough to learn from them, and confidently move on to the next task!
I run and participate in races, but I'm not sure if that counts. I've seen a lot of great human spirit in races!
Hello, I'm a Muay Thai Kickboxer and I also weight lift.
No i don't unless you consider chasing my young son a sport.
I don't play sports, but love watching American Ninja Warrior.
I don't play sports currently. I played sports in little league, high school then college! I loved playing soccer all those years. I learned that it doesn't matter if you're good or not, it only matters if you commit, grow and make sure you have a good spirit!
It depends on what you term a "sport". I love to kayak and do it when I can, but it is a seasonal thing (especially in Northern Michigan!) but otherwise, I don't care for playing sports... I'm a little too competitive. But I'm not really fond of playing, but I do enjoy watching.
No, unless yoga is a sport. (It's not...)
I only play casually, but it's fun!
I play golf and basketball
I love to exercise but don't get it by playing sports. I think team sports can be great in many ways but I just never made the time for it.

I ride bicycles, walk, swim, ride with hubby on his motorcycle, do Classical Stretch 5 days per week. Rarely I will bowl, play a bit of volleyball, and play frisbee.

No, I don't play any sports.
I enjoy both running and triathlon. If they were in my area, women's basketball league would definitely be my go to sport to play.
I played sports in high school, but not since. Hated it then, hate it still, but now there's no pressure to play!
I occasionally (like very very occasionally) play tennis.
No, I don't play sports, wish I did.
No, I don't play sports.
Not anymore really.
Totally have learned a lot from playing womens roller derby these past 8 years. I learned sports are more than the athleticism and competition but the camaraderie. I also learned that if you play a grueling sport, you need to me tal and physically prepare for the game and its consequences on your body and life!
I play sports strictly with my kids for practice, nothing competative.
No, I no longer play any sports.
I play golf
I was playing tennis, but injured my knee, so now I speed walk. It is actually an Olympic event!
No, I do not participate in sports.
I walk.
I certainly can attest to the social benefits of sports, as my continued engagement in the dame sports of my youth - soccer and tennis - allowed me to establish social networks after relocations.
No I don't play any sports
