Well folks, I hope you have plenty of time on your hands. The initial 3-page document that Bush and Paulson put forward has grown somewhat. It's hardly surprising, considering how much of a broad sweep the initial bailout plan was. However, you have to wonder how many people out there have the time, patience and understanding to read a 451-page economic document. But, if you want, you can download it right here.
Simply click this link and you should be prompted to save the entire document to your computer. For those with slow connections, this could take a while. But certainly nowhere near as long as the monumental read that awaits you. A document like this could hide all sorts of legal loopholes and technicalities, so I hope there are plenty of non-partisan economists looking through this for the sake of every American taxpayer. Happy reading.

Ha! Paul, I love the closing disclaimer. Hilarious. On a more serious note, I think it's great you provided this for people. Thanks.
I love how bill states its purpose in the first paragraph:
"To amend section 712 of the Employee Retirement Income
Security Act of 1974, section 2705 of the Public Health
Service Act, section 9812 of the Internal Revenue Code
of 1986 to require equity in the provision of mental
health and substance-related disorder benefits under
group health plans, to prohibit discrimination on the
basis of genetic information with respect to health insurance
and employment, and for other purposes."
I guess the "other purposes" is the main purpose? LOL
I haven't made it yet, but it's bookmarked for after tomato season is over: http://acookinglife.typepad.com/a_cooking_life/2007/07/crack-slaw.html
Sorry, wrong post - is there a way to delete my previous comment?
First off let my start by saying the original 3-page document that Bush and Paulson put forward was a bit of a joke, how in 3 pages could you possible “negotiate” the bail out package in “proper” detail.
I have read some of the final “bail out package” documents and its much cleaner and more specific.
