What is the Investoralist?
Conscientious investors are always on the lookout for better information. More often than not, they are bombarded with an overwhelming quantity of data, and analysis of questionable quality.
The Investoralist is a blog that explores the fundamental principles of investing in today’s media-obsessed, amnesic, sound-bite driven world. Instead of focusing on technical aspects of securities analysis, I try to uncover the confluence of factors that have frustrated and confused many investors, and provide meaningful discussion based on a holistic look at the macro-investing environment.
In addition to the core discussion of long-term investing principles and ideas that drive the essence of Investoralist, I will also discuss a range of peripheral issues related to the subject of personal finance, including macro-economics, politics, society, education, and culture.
What the Investoralist believe in
I believe in the timelessness of sound investing principles.
I believe in the famous warning of Santayana as iterated by Benjamin Graham: “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
I believe that qualities such as integrity, honesty, knowledge, and patience make great individuals as well as great investors.
I believe greed, fear, arrogance, and deception make questionable characters and terrible investors.
I believe in the efficiency of the market.
I believe in the herding mentality that more often than not, lead to inefficiency of the market.
I believe that learning about the market is akin to learning about the world.
What the Investoralist is not
I do not provide guidance on the area of personal finance, debt reduction, nor issues related to frugal living. They have been well-covered by a number of popular blogs as it is.
Nor does my writing cater to traders, speculators, or short-term investors. The principles and ideas discussed here provide perspectives for our readers on the ingredients required for long-term investment success.
Lastly, I do not provide technical analysis, trading tips, nor direct investment advice. The Investorlaist is merely here to help the readers in developing the right mindset when faced with the arduous task of picking the right kind of advice for their unique investment situations. I strongly encourage you to seek out professional advice when it comes to the management of your investment portfolio.

Why the Investoralist
The Investoralist came about when its founder got tired of the inaccurate, irrelevant, and often contradictory information that perpetrates the business media networks. As a passive investor herself, she felt under-served by one-sided and microscopic analysis that led many investors astray.
Dana was a former analyst for a number of corporate outfits, was well acquainted with Excel and its modeling functions. She also has a business education that involved Black-Scholes and rudimentary Sarbanes-Oxley.
