My blog is a unique look at my life both present and past. I'm saving to build a house while struggling with issues of living in the country. I'm a working mom and should have this budgeting thing completely figured out but don't. We don't have a ton of debt but we like to spend money which is impeding on our saving to build our dream house. We want a ton of cash so my husband can do a majority of the work himself.
I express various viewpoints on my blog about financial headlines that tick me off. The most recent one was about a lottery winner who was still on food stamps. I don't have any patience for whining or people who want to live off the system.
My like of personal finance goes back to childhood. I grew up very poor and it sucked. I vowed early on to never put myself or my child into the situations that I was put into because of my parents' lack of saving money. Things were so bad growing up that we actually had to use our outhouse for extended periods of time. I don't know anybody in my generation who had to resort to means like that. My background has given me a new appreciation for money and how I can put it to my best use.
