Hey there! I’m Kamara, a 20-something Certified Financial Planner. I have quite a few years experience in the financial services industry, and have specialized in areas such as insurance all the way to technology.
The point of The Modern Financial is to approach personal finance with a fresh and ‘modern’ spin. I believe financial wellness is a broad subject that intertwines with different parts of life, so I’ll be writing about many different things. Also as I tend not to take myself too seriously, I will often make jokes at my own expense.
I consider myself an eternal West Coaster. I was born and raised in one of Vancouver’s suburbs, and recently relocated to Toronto for a new adventure. I’ve also lived overseas in Japan.
As a self-proclaimed “Gym Rat”, I am a health and fitness enthusiast, and I try to apply this interest to financial planning, taking an holistic approach to financial well-being.
I’m passionate about volunteering and philanthropy, and I’ve worked with many charities and non-profit organizations.
