I’ve owned my desktop PC for a little over 3 years, and most days I’m scared to look into my folders to see what I’ve been hoarding. Wading through thousands of pictures, Word documents and PDF’s to “trim the fat” is not something I look forward to. A recently discovered free program, however, has taken that task and made it completely possible.

Like that’s not cool enough, they only created thirty of them, and they are not for sale anywhere. That’s right, this limited edition series is only available for the short term via online give-aways. And guess who’s getting first crack at two of them? That’s right, you! Since I didn't get to a Cold Stone Creamery for my free Mother's Day cone, so my gluttonous ears perked up when I heard that Haagen-Dazs is giving away free scoops tomorrow, May 13. There are limitations, though: Only one flavor is free: the chain's new vanilla honey bee, and the free cones are only given between 4 p.m. and 8p.m. So much for taking advantage of my stay-at-home mom status and getting there at 10 a.m.
Just as well, in my case. I checked the store locator and the closest Haagen-Dazs to me is at O'Hare airport -- only 2 and a half miles away, but with today's gas prices, I'm much better off serving myself a scoop from my freezer, about 4 yards away from this computer. In fact, I think I'll jump the gun and do that right now.

Saturday is the Letter Carriers' annual food drive, when you put bags of food out and your mailman or mail woman will pick them up to share with needy families. But with rising food prices, who can afford to buy an extra bag of groceries for someone else? You can. Here are a couple of food deals going on this week that, if combined with coupons, yield about 2 bags of non-perishable groceries for as little as $3. Even without coupons, you'll spend no more than $10 on food that will really come in handy for those less fortunate.

Music fans of the world, unite. The very cool Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails (or who basically IS Nine Inch Nails), is letting fans download the entire new album The Slip free at the NIN website. This is one further slap in the face to the RIAA, and a move that will no doubt shake up the archaic music industry even further.
